meister lcd problem., 24 Jul. 2015 18:41

Hello, we have got 2 spare meister lcd displays. Ofcourse we tried to let it work. The line numer accepts ds001 but the destination part doesnt respond to anything. The controlerboard is a meister lcd controler3, the 4 glasses are gv84 glasses.

On the controllerboard is a small connector where normally the dip switches are placed.

Who knows more of this type display?

According to the original user it was ds0021 for the destination. But no result

Who can help with this?

Thanks, marc

RE: meister lcd problem., 27 Jul. 2015 01:07

We tried al sorts of protocols, from ds001 to ds003a and all the other protocols. Nothing happend.

At the controllerboard is a small circuit board, with a few wires. At a line board there are dipswitches located on that spot. We transferred the eproms e.d. to the board from the line unit an placed that controlerboard in the destination sign, but also nothing happend. Only ds001 works.

Anyone experienced the same with this type controllerboard?

We are curious what the wires at the little board placed at the dipswitches will do.

Let me know, thanks marc

Could you check what the 2 LEDs are doing (orange and green)?

Orange should be on.
Green should be off (if blinking then there is an error)

I will check tomorrow which firmware you need for AEG GV84 glasses.

Also the dip-switches depends on how many glasses you have, how many signs etc.

Which controller are you using? I have if needed the original EBIS2 or EBIS3 units available.

Dave

Hello dave,

The orange led shines continuesly, the green one only when we send the ds001protocol. Then the correct line number will be shown on the display. Destination isnt doing anything.

All types of protocols tested, no green flashing led, no reaction on the display itself.

The displays are 4 times the gv84 glases, 26 x 192 "dots"

On the lcd controler 3 board are 2 strips of dipswitches, normally 3, but the one in between the 2 strips is replaced by a small print, where a couple of wires run in to. A few are internal connected to 24+ volts, one is connected to 0volts. The other wires are not known what the function is or will be.

See picture link at the first post.

If you have some data or datasheets, maybe we can get it working.

The originally drive unit(ebis2/3) was an init co pilot unit, maybe that helps. It was an verry old system, replaced by an iva unit( intelligent vehicle unit) and also replaced the displays with led units. Thats the reason why we got this set of lcd displays.

If you can help us with that, many thanks

I hear from you, thanks marc

Hello Marczee,

I can remember that the destinations is ds003 / ds003(ab)?

Orange led should shine continuesly (thats okay).
Green is also okay, when it receives data it should ‘blink‘. But if its continuesly blinking or shining then its not good.

Where is the small print for? Normally indeed there should be 3 dipswitches.

I have datasheet (electrical) from the LCD controller V3 print. Link: http://upload.t0xic.nl/images/1438841444.pdf

Original drive unit from Meister (for the Meister) signs is EBIS2 or EBIS3 (cheaper version of EBIS2). Do you may have still the original init co pilot unit(s)? What kind of busses you have?

I got mostly 6 glasses of GV59. I see on your print that you have firmware LC31C7, I have on my signs LC31D4 (newest I have).

Also if wanted I can send you original Meister LCD V3 PCB‘s with 3 dipswitches? Is it easy to make it ‘original‘ again (your prints?)

Kind Regards,
Dave

Hello dave,

The original init copilot(1.0) isnt available unfortunaly.

The orange led burns when turning on the 24v power supply, the green one only when te data (ds001) is sent to the display. Other ds protocols are not accepted and therefor also no flashing green led.

We tried the units with a controlboard from a line unit(3 rows of dipswitches) tried all the protocols and dipswitch settings, but no result.

Originally it was controlled with ds0021a settings, according to the datasheets from the originally manufacturer. Perhaps there is an circuit inside the vehicle what controlls the adresses. Wednesday i wil check if there is any wiring inside that vehicle.

Perhaps you have got the correct driver for it, we do have a correct board with 3 rows of dipswitches. Also a pcmcia card.

It should be fun to add this to our collection, witch is pretty large allready.

Thanks, marc
