LAWO Interior Sign, 03 Jan. 2014 17:17

Hello,
I was today on the road and found a few LAWO interior signs.
Since this is my first LAWO ‘sign‘, I would like to know how I can program them with TEDplus and setting up the custom.cfg, I would like to try it with LAWO 801/4 if possible.
Who can help me with this?

Hello Dave,
in normal case, these interior signs don‘t understand DS1 and DS3 used for outside signs and by 801/4.
It is expected that a DS3c or DS9 is sent to be shown. To find out what version of firmware is on the signs you should connect them to 24 V. In normal case, LAWO signs show their SW version on startup ("A7 ....")
Maybe there is a possibility then to change something, but I don‘t think that there is a memory space available to save destinations....

I have 3 of these displays in my collection.
At start-up the display says:
A7 V27 F1......................A7 V2
It responds to the ds009 command, wich format is: v DATA [cr] P
Example:
vIBIS-World ROCKS!!![cr]P
will look like:
The clock will respond to:
u1927[cr]P

Hello Dave,
it seems to be a newer firmware on the interior signs that is configured by InfoTED (you need to create a BIZ-file).
In the configuration it would be possible to include DS1/1a and 3a or other DS for central destination data. DS3 and saved destinations are not available.
The BIZ file must be loaded using the boot-interface with a LAWO 4010 cable (I think it was one like that) using a special DOS program.
That is what I found out, I have an interior sign in use that contains two of these LED plates and works quite similar....

When I got any possibilities to control te signs I‘ll will try.
First thing is to find InfoTED. I got TEDplus already.

Krueger can send ds009, you have to make a route in EIS.
Or using a computer and a rs232-->IBIS modem.

Well, that‘s the other option if a KRUEGER EG is available.....
Otherwise: it would be possible that I try to create a BIZ file as you would need it (for example to DS1 and DS3a) because I have access to a InfoTED version. But you will still
need a boot cable from lawo and a notebook with a good old LPT port then....

Krueger EG is not a problem for me to get. Currently I got 2 ‘spares‘.

LPT or do you mean RS232, since behind the backcover there is one RS232. Is it not just a 1:1 serial cable? (whats so special about the LAWO cable?)

On my desktop i have a LPT port, but for my laptop i have a USB --> LPT dongle. So i can use my willem eprom programmer on the road.
You buy such for $3 and a carrot :) Love Ebay.
I have interest too, in infoTED and de wiring diagram for that cable, since a have several displays of this type. In also red and yellow.
