Wiring/pinout scheme of a LAWO flipdot board?, 17 Mar. 2013 13:41

Are there any wiring/pinout schemes about the LAWO flipdot boards of 16x28 dots?

I have two panels with some defect, they come from two dirrefent signs but are of the same type. I think it‘s just a defective diode of a broken PCB trace which can be fixed quite easy. But because I don‘t know how they are wired, I cannot check it.

- The first board has a vertical column (most right one) with stay‘s black.
- The second board has a horizontal row on it which doesn‘t flip to yellow.

I already have swapped the FP2800A ic‘s on the back of the boards and tried different sign controllers, but the problem still exist so the ic‘s and/or controllers are not the problem. And the problem is only when using the flat-cable connector on the right side of the board.

The second one with a defective row:

Maybe some coils or diodes are faulty. So it is with the Annax modules.

Hello,

"normally" it could be following damages/errors:

Columns: FP2800 or (short) flat cable between several boards.

Rows: The (long) flat cable between dot board and sign controlle (f.e. 802/15)

Rows AND columns: Damaged diode at the intersection of column and row.

I wlll ask our hardware specialist this week when he‘s back in the office if there is another error.

btw: You have written, that the error is only when you connect the flat cable at the right side. Right side if you‘re looking at the dots or from behind the board? Waht Software is in use? Maybe you‘re using wrong column and row tables in the custom.cfg.

Kind regards

Es grüßt ganz herzlich

The board with a defective horizontal row is fixed There was a PCB trace (invisible) broken from the right connector to the dots. I‘ve repair it by connecting pin 37 of the right connector with pin 37 of the left connector. This board works fine now.

To repair it, I‘ve found this scheme:
http://www.mikrocontroller.net/attachment/157005/flipdot.pdf
It‘s for a 13x28 board, but the differents with my 16x28 are small.

The board with the defective vertical column is still not fixed. The flat cables are already replaced and the coils are not damaged.

Very occasionally the column will work for 2 or 3 cycles and then stay there. The problem exists when using both connectors, in contrast to what I said earlier I don‘t think it‘s a software-problem (firmware is AZR-12C), because I already have tried different configurations and controllers. It worked fine previously until I turned it on at a saturday morning to set my name on it :-|
